Questions regarding the midterm

A copy of the exam.
Problem 3:
- Definition of "mean proportional": in the expression
  ${\frac{a}{x}=\frac{x}{b}}$
  x is the mean proportional between a and b.
Problem 4:
- Part d.: It's "Find a and b of (c) when m=7." (I chopped out a part, but didn't fix the reference to Part c.)
Problem 5:
- Larger scan of Carroll proof.
Problem 9:
- Q: Does between 5 and 10 INCLUDE 5 and 10?
  A: There will be some quibbling about the meaning of the word "digit", certainly! Take a broad view of digits. But the method does work at both extremes.
