- Hand back homework 1.2. Graded #11, 16, 35
- 11 -- It's not enough to say "mp" -- you need to be
precise about which lines you're applying "mp" to.
- 16 -- be careful about the hypotheses -- some of you are
stripping out implications inside hypotheses....
- 35 -- There are different strategies. You could use the
deduction method, or just proceed directly using hypothetical
syllogism. Some of you did both!:) No bonus points, but no
harm, no foul.
- Generally:
- Please number your lines.
- Please put your proof in a column, not strung out
along rows.
- You can't assume what is to be proven (e.g. $(A'
\to D)$ in #35).
- Some of you proved the consequent, and then kept
on going. No, you're done! Stop!
- Hand in homework over 1.3.
- Your 1.4 homework is due Wednesday
- Questions on problems from the section 1.3 homework you just
handed in, or from 1.4 homework you're working on?
- Let's briefly review section 1.4: Predicate Logic
- Then we'll start on section 2.1.
