Announcements
- A reminder that we've moved our exam, scheduled for Wednesday, to next Wednesday.
- There is a talk this Thursday, at 3:05. I think that it should be really interesting: When Will We Run Out? Mathematical Models of the Depletion of Nonrenewable Resources
- Homework on sets returned: #5, 26, 35. Each posed its own problems:
  - #5: use set notation.
  - #26: there should be $2^4=16$ subsets.
  - #35: think about a binary operation as a matrix (or spreadsheet)...
- Today's project thought is from section 5.2: #48, and 49 (and so on!), p. 450.
  Counting things (combinatorics) is usually kind of fun, and often challenging.
  These tree problems involve symmetry, which is a too-often neglected part of mathematical study.
Today we start with one last thing from section 5.2: Trees and Their Representations.
Then it's on to section 5.3: Decision Trees.
