Student Adventures and Perspectives
- Students learn by doing! We throw them in, and they tend to swim.
- Traditional academics:
- Reinforce known techniques
- Learn things that parallel those taught in class
- Learn new techniques not taught in class
- Take ideas and examples back to class
- Get a chance to see projects through from beginning to end
No cookie-cutter problems!
- Meet clients, and
- find out how little can make them so very happy!
- find out how demanding they can be
- Participate in contests, search committees, judging science
fairs, etc.
- Become known in the department
- Participate in publications (some are in review or revision)
- Presentations:
- To a hospital board
- To the university administration
- To faculty and students at an annual "Celebration of
Research"
- To MAA audiences, Posters at the Capital, etc.
