A couple of problems:
- I thought of the loss rate (and average cost) function as negative, which
meant that I should have been looking for a maximum (not a min)!
- Eventually, the loss of the item is total (generally), so that
If the loss rate function is increasing with time (as it should be),
then eventually it should become zero (when all the value is gone).
- Assuming f(s)=7*s, here is C(t) without loss. Notice that f and
c cross at the minimum
