WAVES Gnuplot Interface
|
|
This project is one of the first phases in the WAVES
effort to bring visualization tools to the Web. Novice or expert Gnuplot users
can easily work with one of the interfaces listed
below to create plots using Gnuplot 3.7. If you have Gnuplot installed on
your local machine, you can also use this interface to create Gnuplot control
files for local use. You can also download a preliminary report on the WAVES project in MS Word format.
- Demo Control File Interface: Using this
interface you can
learn more about Gnuplot commands by running Demo files provided
on the server. This is also a good way to see examples of Gnuplot's more
complex capabilities.
- Basic Interface: This is an easy to
use graphical interface which can perform most of Gnuplot's features. All
you have to do is specify where your data is located at the top of the
interface, and specify what plot options you want to use at the bottom of
the interface. Then, simply hit the "Send Request" Button and wait for your
custom plot to be returned to your browser.
- 2-D Dynamic Interface & 3-D Dynamic Interface: These interfaces
allow you to dynamically create a Basic Interface with the same attributes
as a 2-Dimensional or 3-Dimensional plot image you select. If you know what
your final plot should look like, this is the easiest way to specify the
default values to use on your Basic Interface.
- Expert Interface: Gnuplot experts
can use this interface to enter an existing Gnuplot control file, or simply
type in a list of Gnuplot commands.
We need your feedback! After using these interfaces please
tell us what you liked and disliked. Email your comments to Tom Misley at

For more information about Gnuplot, you can read a brief description, or you can check out
the Gnuplot Homepage,
or the
Gnuplot FAQs. From the Gnuplot Homepage, you can access the Gnuplot source
files and binaries for UNIX, Windows, Mac, and VMS platforms.
