Carved Fishing Lure

This fishing lure is carved from cedar in the shape of a wolf. Animals are associated with family ancestry and status and are used in many art forms. The Northwest Coast Native Americans are known for their woodworking abilities, particularly with cedar. Fishing was a primary source of food for the Native Americans.
