The Kentucky Cybersecurity & Forensics Conference (KCFC) is an annual cybersecurity event held every year by one of the National Centers of the Academic Excellence i.e. the CAE institutions within Kentucky. It is a cybersecurity conference that is hosted annually by one of Kentucky’s higher education institutions that has earned the CAE designation through NSA accreditation. This year, the KCFC 2024 will be hosted in person by Northern Kentucky University (NKU) in Griffin Hall, the home of the College of Informatics. This cybersecurity focused conference offers a great platform and opportunity for discussions, presentations, exchange of ideas, dissemination of research work via papers & posters, scholarly publications, workshops and networking with peers from academics, government and industry for advancing cybersecurity education, collaborations and innovations.

The NKU College of Informatics is proud and honored to host this 2024 KCFC i.e. the annual Kentucky CAE Conference on Saturday, October 19. This conference will feature papers, posters, workshops, and presentations on a variety of cybersecurity topics.

KCFC 2024 Theme

In an age marked by rapid technological progress, the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity has become a pivotal area of focus. This year’s KCFC celebrates connection between these two areas of research, acknowledging AI's pivotal role in strengthening security while also recognizing the distinct challenges it presents. The conference aims to explore cutting-edge research, share insightful perspectives, and unravel the intricacies of this dynamic relationship.

KCFC 2024 Submission Information

We invite submissions on all areas/topics (disciplinary and inter-disciplinary) related to cybersecurity in the following three (3) categories:

- Short Papers

- Full Papers

- Posters

Given this year’s conference theme, we welcome submissions featuring findings demonstrably beneficial in enhancing the application of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, particularly those addressing insights gleaned from practical implementations. Submissions will be accepted through Microsoft Conference Management toolkit, and the submission process will open by end of July, and the submission portal link will be announced plus posted on this website. Submissions covering, but not limited to, the following areas, are welcome.

Submission requirements:

Short papers are expected to be 8-10 pages in length, but short paper submissions lesser than 8 pages, or more than 10 pages will also be considered.

Full papers are expected to be 16-20 pages in length, but full paper submissions lesser than 16 pages, or more than 20 pages will also be considered.

For posters, the abstract is expected to be 300-350 words in length.

All paper submissions should follow the Springer publication's Computer Science conference paper template and formatting guidelines, as specified online by Atlantis Press at: https://www.atlantis-press.com/policies Once you click on the provided weblink, refer to the "Guidelines for conference paper authors" section for instructions and paper formatting templates.

Submission deadlines:

The deadline for paper submissions is Tuesday, September 3rd, 11:59 EST.

The deadline for poster submissions is Monday, September 9th, 11:59 EST.

Note:

All types of scholarly works, including but not limited to applied research work, experimental case studies, experience reports, work-in-progress investigations, review of research literature & system of knowledge papers, and research survey studies, are welcome.


KCFC 2024 Conference Proceedings Publication

For an accepted paper to be published as part of the KCFC 2024 Conference Proceedings, at least one author/co-author of each accepted paper must register for the KCFC 2024 and must present the accepted paper at the conference event

As the host of the 4th edition of the Kentucky Cybersecurity & Forensics Conference (KCFC), Northern Kentucky University (NKU) is happy to announce that all accepted papers of KCFC 2024 will be published with Atlantis Press, part of the Springer Nature publishers, in the following proceedings series, Atlantis Highlights in Computer Sciences. All the accepted papers of the KCFC 2024 conference proceedings will be published as open access in the above mentioned Springer Nature publication platform. Last year this Atlantis Press, Springer Nature publication platform generated over 25 million full-text downloads. KCFC 2024 Submission Policies, Guidelines, and Processes

Peer Review Process

Reviewers are aware of the authors' identities, but authors do not know the reviewers' identities. This aims to reduce bias while ensuring a fair assessment. (Single-blind review)

Submissions are evaluated based on originality, technical quality, clarity of presentation, and relevance to the conference's scope.

Ethical Statement

All submissions must be original work that has not been previously published or submitted elsewhere. Authors should disclose any overlapping content from prior publications.

Submissions will be screened using plagiarism detection software. Any instance of plagiarism will result in rejection and possible sanctions against the authors.

AI-Generated Content Policy

Authors must clearly indicate the use of AI tools in their research and submission preparation. This includes specifying the extent of AI assistance in writing or data analysis.

AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Human authors are responsible for the integrity and content of the submission.

Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism includes using another's work without proper citation, including text, ideas, and data. Strict measures are in place to handle detected plagiarism.

All submissions will be checked for plagiarism. If plagiarism is detected, the submission will be rejected, and authors may face further disciplinary actions.
