This visit option is offered throughout the week and starts in the Welcome Center. It includes an admissions presentation, campus tour, and sometimes an optional academic session. The presentation and tour generally last about an hour and a half, with the presentation taking 15-20 minutes and the tour taking approximately one hour. A list of available dates can be found here.

During a Norse Day Visit, tours take place after the 15-20 minute admissions presentation. For Open House events, you will receive an overview of your itinerary 24 hours before your visit. You may also schedule an individual tour by emailing welcomecenter@nku.edu.

Academic sessions are 30-minute meetings with faculty and staff from your major of interest. They provide detailed information about your program and a chance to ask questions.

As you complete the registration form for your Norse Day Visit, you will have the option to indicate whether you are interested in an academic session. If you can't find a session that you're interested in or none of the available times work for you, please email the Welcome Center at welcomecenter@nku.edu. We will help you schedule some time with a faculty or staff member. Details about the location of your academic session are provided at check-in for your Norse Day Visit.

Typically, we don't offer weekend visits or tours. However, if none of our listed event dates work for you, email welcomecenter@nku.edu and we may be able to accommodate your schedule.

Yes, all campus tours are walking tours. If you require accommodations, please email us at welcomecenter@nku.edu and we will be happy to meet your needs.

The tour is given by current students or staff members who have been certified as tour guides. They are knowledgeable about campus life, academics, NKU history, and more.

No, all admissions events, with the exception of New Student Orientation, are available for registration free of charge.

Yes, reservations are required for all Norse Day Visits and Open House events. Reservations can be made at visit.nku.edu. If you are unable to make a reservation but would still like to attend an event, we will do our best to accommodate walk-in guests.

You will receive a confirmation email if you provide a valid email address to us when scheduling your visit. This email contains very important information, including check-in information and parking instructions.

Please email us at welcomecenter@nku.edu or call us at (859) 572-1400 to see if your reservation can be moved to another day or time that is not already full. We can also cancel your visit reservation if you are not able to come. Cancelling your tour allows your space(s) to open up to other visitors. Please DO NOT submit another tour request to cancel a tour; doing so makes a duplicate tour reservation.

Our tours leave rain or shine, cold or hot, so make sure you're comfortable as you explore our campus. Remember, the tour is a walking tour, so wear comfortable shoes! For tours during the summer months, you may want to bring a hat, sunglasses, or sunscreen. If rain is in the forecast, don't forget an umbrella or rain jacket! We'll usually provide complimentary ponchos if it's raining.

Your confirmation e-mail will include GPS links with driving directions and parking instructions. You can can also browse the interactive map. Guest parking is in the Welcome Center Visitor Lot, which is located directly by the University Center.

Your Norse Day Visit presentation will be given by an admissions professional staff member. You will have time after the presentation to ask questions. We strongly encourage that you register for an academic session, which can be found within your Norse Day Registration. If an academic session is unavailable for a specific major of interest, please call the Welcome Center at (859) 572-1400 and we will help you schedule some time with a faculty or staff member. 

This tour is for large groups of high school or college-aged students who are visiting campus together. Group tours can also be arranged to include an information session and a tour of campus.

High school grades 9th - 12th or college transfer students can be accommodated. For college transfer groups, please contact our Adult and Transfer Center at atc@nku.edu and include the following information:

• Your school’s name
• Preferred visit date and timeframe
• Estimated number of students attending
• Any specific areas of campus you’d like to explore (optional)

 

Our group visits begin with a 20 minute admissions presentation followed by a walking tour of campus that will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

No. Group visits are available for registration free of charge. 

Yes, you must make a reservation for a Group Visit. We recommend your group representative contacts our Welcome Center at welcomecenter@nku.edu at least two weeks before the time you'd like to visit. Please include the following information in your message:

• Your school’s name
• Preferred visit date and timeframe
• Estimated number of students attending
• Any specific areas of campus you’d like to explore (optional)

You will receive a confirmation email when we have confirmed that your desired tour date and time is available. Please save this email, since it contains very important information about your visit.
