Geostatistical Mapping Techniques

Andy Long

Why use geostatistical techniques when your software package offers you a ``point and shoot'' interpolation and contouring choice? It's often the difference between science and fantasy. The geostatistical techniques we discuss will require modelling the spatial autocorrelation of the phenomenon under investigation, and will require assumptions which might be unrealistic in your case (but you may use the methods anyway). My only claim is that this method may be better than any other at your fingertips....
